Friday Notes - 2024 W&M Week 2

Updated Schedule for Middlers and Senior Highs. Middler and Senior High choir rehearsal and Small Group times will change today. Middler Small Groups will take place at 9:00 AM. Middler choir rehearsal will take place at 10:00 AM. Senior High choir rehearsal will take place at 9:00 AM. Senior High Small Groups will take place at 10:00 AM.


Communion. Today we celebrate the Eucharist by intinction. All bread will be free of gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and tree nuts, and the cup will contain grape juice. Allergen-free wafers will be available at a single station at the front of the auditorium. Communion servers will use hand sanitizer prior to serving, and conferees and faculty are encouraged to do the same. The communion servers will hand the piece of bread to the recipient, who will dip their piece of bread into the cup. Exit your pew to the left; return to the right.

Morning and Evening Prayer.

Morning Prayer Location Change 7:30 AM in the Gazebo beside the boats on Lake Susan.

Evening Prayer Materials are provided for self-led Evening Prayer online utilizing this QR code or via this link.

Conference Art Auction. This year, Anderson Auditorium has featured banners created by Catherine Kapikian (Artist in Residence) and Grace Evans (Assistant Artist in Residence). The worship leaders have worn stoles handmade by our faculty artists. These pieces will be available in an online auction beginning this morning at 6:00 AM EDT, ending at 2:00 PM EDT. Winners will be notified immediately. Payment must be arranged in the PAM Office (Allen building, lower level) before 3:00 PM EDT. Cash, card, or check are accepted. Art will be collected by the winners at the end of the conference. All proceeds benefit the PAM Annual Fund.  The auction will be available online here.


Commissioned Anthem Octavo Signing. Today at 10 AM and after worship at the Beethoven & Company store. Earlene Rentz, composer, will autograph copies of today’s Middler Choir anthem "Lead Us Homeward".


Friday Concert Mic Check and Rehearsal. Each group featured in the Friday evening Closing Concert will have a brief mic check and rehearsal in Anderson Auditorium this afternoon. 


1:30 – 1:55 Middler Choir (the remainder of class will take place in Upper Anderson)

2:00 – 2:25 Children’s Choir (Children’s 1:30 classes release at 1:55) 

2:30 – 2:55 Adult Choir

3:00 – 3:25 Senior High Choir (report to Upper Anderson at 2:30) 

3:30 – 3:55 10:00AM Intermediate Handbells

4:00 – 4:25 3:30 PM Intermediate Handbells

4:30 – 4:55 1:30 PM Advanced Handbells

 

Annual Fund Offering. At tonight’s closing concert, you will have the opportunity to make a joyful gift to the PAM Annual Fund. Your gift, in partnership with the gifts of many others, helps support the planning and coordination of events such as this annual Worship & Music Conference. Your generosity also provides for the development and delivery of PAM’s membership benefits, such as regional events, Call to Worship journal, PAM Certification, Seed Money Grants, and more. Second Loaf. Do you have leftover food, paper goods, or personal care items from your time at W&M Conference? You can drop off unopened, shelf-ready non-perishables, cold or frozen food in their original, unopened packaging, individually wrapped snacks, paper goods, and personal care items at the Second Loaf tent in the Black Mountain Presbyterian Church parking lot (117 Montreat Road). Volunteers from this program distribute these donations locally.

Second Loaf will accept donations Saturday morning 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

2025 Conference Lodging. It is not too early to reserve your lodging for the 2025 Worship & Music Conference. The following options are now open for reservations:

William Black Lodge will begin accepting reservations in mid-August. Montreat Conference Center will begin accepting reservations on September 1st.
