Call To Worship Journal

Call to Worship: Liturgy, Music, Preaching, and the Arts

This quarterly journal is published by the Office of Theology, Formation, and Evangelism of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), in partnership with PAM.

The publication subscription is available in both web and print formats as a benefit of your PAM membership.

The annual Lectionary Companion provides worship, art, and music resources based on the Scripture readings in the Revised Common Lectionary, including opening sentences, prayers, congregational song suggestions, piano and organ music, and anthem selections.

Three thematic issues in each volume of Call to Worship include articles on liturgy, music, preaching, and the arts, liturgical ideas and resources, book and music reviews, and artwork that explores ritual, liturgy, and theology. Recent issue themes include, “Beyond the Walls,” “Read and Proclaimed,” “Queering the Liturgy,” “Collaboration in Worship,” “Liturgy in Times of Crisis,” “Shared Space,” and future topics will include, “In Life and In Death,” “Worship and Politics,” and “The Work of the People.”

The journal’s website features full weekly liturgies under the “Lectionary Companion” tab, additional resources to what is provided in the print issues. The website also features a gallery, archives, and a community page, where subscribers can connect with one another.
